We’re Going to Local-First Conf — Let’s Connect posted Wednesday, May 7, 2025 by CouchDB Team CouchDBoffline-firstannouncementnews
Want to see PouchDB and CouchDB do Local-First? The second edition of the Local-First Conference is taking place in Berlin from May 26-28th and kicks off with a Community Day.
Find out what the CouchDB and PouchDB communities will be up to, how you can find us and what goodies await.
If you’re looking for a reason to visit Berlin this spring, maybe this is it! The Local-First Conference brings together speakers and facilitators all the way from the academic to the indie dev end of the software spectrum to talk and hack all things Local-First Software.
If you know us well, you know what we’re often writing about (and have been for a while) is Offline-First Software. CouchDB and PouchDB are built around the superpowers that help make your apps more accessible and offline capable. We’re excited to bring these two technologies to the Local-First community and your toolbox too.
Community Day
This year, the conference kicks off with a dedicated Community Day. Hosted at The Delta Campus in the heart of Berlin, it’s an opportunity to get to know some speakers before they grace the stage and — more excitingly — play around with some of the technologies, libraries and tools that pepper the Local-First landscape.
And we’ll be there! Bring your laptop to join in. If you haven’t had a chance to take CouchDB for a spin on the new CouchDB Minihosting service, we’ll have a live instance you can play around with.
If you want to get even more hands-on, you can follow our build-along of the neat Pouchnotes app. It’ll be a fun and easy way to see how the latest states of CouchDB and PouchDB, and the sync magic they can do together.
If you want to join, make sure you register for the Local-First Community Day and take a look at what else is going on.
Conference
The full schedule is out!
On May 28 Jan Lehnardt from the Neighborhoodie team will look back at 15 years of Local-First development: not just what it is, but what it does.
In emergency situations, life-saving software often needs to work offline to do the job right. But what’s it like to build these apps on-the-fly as emergencies unfold? And what does it mean for the progress and advocacy of the technology itself?
If you want to glean some hard-learned lessons and discover the human impact that development details amount to, don’t miss it! It’s the first talk of Day 2 and promises to set an exciting tone.
We can’t wait to see you there! And in the meantime, we wish you all happy syncing!
