FOSS — Free and Open Source Software
Our team contains a spectacular breadth of knowledge — a lot of that expertise developed and honed through open source project contributions of all shapes and sizes. While CouchDB and PouchDB have a special place in our stack, they’re just the beginning. Shared values around community-first technology are a big part of why Neighbourhoodie was founded in the first place.
We’ve worked on some of the world’s most-relied on FOSS projects and feel extremely proud to have made production contributions to Log4j, PHP, systemd and many more.
Sovereign Tech Agency
Since 2023 we’ve been scaling our impact as the official implementation partner of the Sovereign Tech Agency through their Tech Resilience program.
Neighbourhoodie has been an excellent partner to the Tech Resilience Program at the Sovereign Tech Agency, providing a variety of services to participating open-source projects with exceptional knowledge of the OSS ecosystem.
Their collaborative approach with the projects has significantly enhanced our program’s impact. We highly recommend Neighbourhoodie for their expertise, reliability, and dedication to improving open-source software.
With STA support we’ve been able to play varied roles and flex our skills in:
C++ | C | Java | Rust | Ruby | PHP | phpseclib | JavaScript | TypeScript | GNOME Blueprint | XML | Ansible | GitHub Actions | buildbot | Jenkins | Automake | Erlang | Elixir | Python | Typo3 | Poppler | HTML & CSS | Shell scripting | Continuous Integration

Assisted Projects
From communication culture to technical idiosyncrasies we know all projects are unique. Thanks to working with so many people and organisations, we’ve become efficient at getting on board with a project and having an impact without drawing significant resources, aside from PR reviews, of course!
Here’s a selection of projects we’ve helped with STA support:
- Improving test coverage for systemd
- Adding fuzz testing and migrating modules for OpenPGP.js
- Migrating Log4j’s testing suite to the latest version
- Auditing and resolving 221 CVEs, and streamlining tracking for Yocto
- Enhancing Reproducible Builds’ documentation, website and marketing
- Reviewing the Sequoia-PGP project and adding contribution guides
We strongly encourage more projects to apply to the Tech Resilience program. If you are looking for external help to achieve your goals, or would like specialist support enhancing a FOSS package essential to your business, we would love to support you:
